When he proposed to Kelly Preston, in Palace Hotel restaurant in Gstaad, Switzerland, as the clock struck twelve on New Year's Eve, 1991, Travolta presented his beloved with a six-carat diamond ring. His exact words were: "Kelly, will you marry me?" Preston screamed with excitement, before accepting. Present were Jonathan D. Krane, Travolta's manager, and his wife, actress Sally Kellerman. Travolta and Kelly were married at midnight on September 5, 1991, at the Hotel de Crillon, in Paris, by a French Scientology minister. They were in Franche for the premiere of "Eyes of an angel" at the Deauville Film Festival. "I'm literally high" was Travolta's response after being asked to by a reporter to describe his feelings.
